First Flower Ever Painted

Did you know the first flower ever painted might have been the lotus?

Ancient Egyptians adored the lotus flower, decorating amulets, ceramics, and papyrus with its image. To them, it symbolized the sun and rebirth. Even King Tut was buried with floral necklaces made of blue lotuses, sunflowers, and poppies!

Fast forward to the Middle Ages, and flowers became a secret language. Since most people couldn’t read, artists used blooms to symbolize emotions and religious ideas.

Then came the Renaissance, where flowers exploded onto canvases! Artists used them as both the subject and backdrop, like Botticelli’s Primavera, featuring over 500 different plants in one painting!

Flowers have always told stories—what’s yours? 💐
